This is Hubby’s cousin. She shared her Christmas with us and it was fabulous. She brought her Wii Zumba, and we Zumba’d it up. She was also addicted to her phone, and shockingly we captured a picture of her without it. But truly, she was a wonderful addition to our family fun.

When a Parent Dies

Last Tuesday, I posted a picture of my late father-in-law. My Hubby’s dad passed away last week of cancer. He was 62. I’ve never lost anyone super close to me, so I have no idea what Hubby is going through. He is in Trinidad and gets home on Thanksgiving. It’s been rough this week without him, but I imagine the week was tougher for Hubby. I wanted to go, to be there with him, but Miss C has not had her immunizations yet. Nor does she have a passport. So, I heard about the service over the phone, well, it was actually Skype.

We have reached the age that a parent has died, and it’s scary thinking about who will be next. Since Grandpa Early was sick, it was a little easier to process, but this was a first for us. I pray that his soul is rejoicing in the Lord!

An Overdue Trip Home

I went home last week! I hadn’t been home since my ten-year high school reunion almost two years ago. I was home for a diversity recruiting conference for work, called the Consortium’s Orientation Program. Hubby came and we brought the boys, which my parents thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, they kept them the majority of the trip and even took them to see Cars 2.

I got the chance to sit on a brand management panel, with other marketing industry professionals. The event drew hundreds of the most talented black and Hispanic MBA students to Minneapolis for the week, and it was featured on the front page of the Star Tribune business section.

A highlight of the trip was seeing my bestie, Ty. We’ve known each other since we were two. We don’t get to see each other much as adults, but this week we got take our boys swimming. It was amazing seeing our children, now ages 3-6, playing together. Who woulda thunk it?!
