Y’all, I spent the most amazing Thanksgiving with my friend Antisha. If you know me, you may think I’m an organized planner, but you haven’t met ‘organized’ until you meet Antisha. After watching and observing her for five days during the holidays, she motivated and inspired me to tackle the junk drawers, disheveled linen closets, messy counters and everything in-between from the garage to the laundry room. I’m organizing the house in 2016 using a 52-week challenge. Can’t promise I’ll get through each week, but I’m going to try and will be proud of the results regardless.
This challenge is not original. It is completely borrowed, just like all good ideas. I will be following a slightly modified version of Home Storage Solutions 52 Week Challenge. For this week’s challenge Hubby and I had to come up with a system first. We began by determining the weekly menu, which helped alleviate the stress that I felt whenever I walked into the kitchen. I know menu planning is on the list a little later, but in order for me to have an organized kitchen it started with a plan. I’ll go into more detail about what we use to prepare these meals once week 8 arrives.
Our Weekly Menu
Monday: Chicken Stir Fry & Brown Rice
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday
Wednesday: Salad & Sammies
Thursday: Zucchini pasta
Friday: Left-overs/free day
We also devised a daily cleaning schedule: I planned to wipe down the counters, load and run the dishwasher each morning, Hubby would unload before dinner, and I would re-load after dinner dishes and wipe the counters before going to bed.
Week 1 Budget
Lastly, you know I’d be remiss to dive into another project without sharing the details of the expense. This week, I only purchased two items to help keep the counters and sink clean. I spent $18.38 at Target on a liquid soap dispenser and bleach spray.
