This past weekend we celebrated the culmination of 52 Bows with my lovebug turning 1. She is the sweetest baby girl on the planet, and we had a simple, family gathering in the backyard. “The family” encompassed eight of Miss C’s closest relatives (sans her maternal grandparents). Uncle A, Auntie Niki and Jim visited for nearly a week. They are closer than extended family and embrace our kids as though they are their own. Uncle A adorned our bellies with blueberry pancakes, roasted lobster and the buttermilk battered fish tacos which we enjoyed at the garden party. The family also showered the Caterpillar with gifts, clothes, toys and most valuably (I just made up that word), their love.
Hubby lit our mini-grill and wreathed our senses with pinion-scented wood as we dined. I rented a table and chairs from a local party shop and decorated each place setting with handmade felt bows, encircled with twine. Hubby made some delicious pico de gallo, and he made sure to top off his taco with hot sauce from a recent trip to DC’s Nando’s. We had cake from Costco (which is Hubby’s favorite store. Seriously. We buy clothes, furniture, towels, oh, and did I mention food, from Costco), which was just sweet enough.
Baby girl enjoyed the fish and was probably asking for more in the picture below. I can definitely do with more weekends like this: family, food, firsts and God’s favor!

Everything looks beautiful! Great job!
