My Caterpillar is seven weeks old. What is my mommy routine? Well, she usually wakes up around 6 AM. She’s sleeping in the bed with us, and I’m exclusively breastfeeding, so it’s pretty convenient having her right there. Plus, she believes our bed is her own. She sleeps so peacefully in our sheets and fusses after five minutes if you even think about putting her in her crib in her nursery.
After feeding her she lays back down, and I pump several ounces to store in the freezer for when I go back to work. Then I put on oatmeal for everyone. Gadget likes his with craisins, oat granola, sliced strawberries, and a sprinkle of almonds. The Lion loves craisins, strawberries, and more recently, crumbled Nature Valley granola bars in his. Hubby prefers blueberries, flaxseed and almonds. I enjoy raspberries, tons of granola… and I’ve been known to put a dollop of whipped cream on mine. Once the oatmeal is cooking, I either jump in the shower, or hassle Gadget about getting ready. He is usually missing his shoes, his school folder, his library book, his snack, or appropriate clothing for the weather. After shouting at him that school starts in eight minutes, we find everything and run out the door. Either his Granny walks him to school, or I drive him if it’s too cold outside.
After Hubby leaves to drop off the Lion, I head into the bedroom to watch my Hulu queue on our internet TV. My Caterpillar nurses again, and then goes back to sleep. I pause my Hulu queue to fix lunch, which tomorrow will be flank steak with sweet chili sauce, brown rice and green peppers. After lunch, Miss C nurses again and then I usually edit the design of some portion of my blog. I’ve made some changes to my search results page. I’m hoping to finish all my updates before I go back to work. I officially go back right before Christmas, so if you see a dip in posts then, work is the reason!
Speaking of work, I received my FLMA return to work notice, and they robbed me of a couple weeks. I immediately sorted that out. I need all the time I can get to set up our new childcare arrangements for when I return. My job consists of a lot of agency management, as we’ll be gearing up to produce our 2012 commercials – so exciting! I spend so much time with the agency that my agency rep sent me and Miss C the cutest gifts this week. She sent me a monogrammed coffee mug, and Miss C received the cutest felt capital “C.” It’s so cute, I want to ask for the all the remaining letters in her name.
Where was I? Oh yes, my day. I honestly am getting anxious about going back to work, but that’s a whole nother post. So, after playing on the computer and nursing some more, if it’s Tuesday, I take her weekly photo. Today I’m beginning INSANITY, so I’ll let you know how that one goes. In the evening, Granny picks up Gadget, and Hubby brings home the Lion. We fix dinner, help Gadget with his homework, and then put the boys to bed. Miss C of course, is wide awake by now, and while I’m trying to catch up with Hubby, she’s demanding that I hold her, burp her, chat with her, change her… And this continues all through the night. She eats at 11pm and around 2:30am, and then the cycle repeats itself.
