Her Nursery

Ms. C’s nursery theme is borrowed from the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We found vinyl lettering with the proverb on Etsy, and applied the phrase over her window. We painted the cream stripe around the nursery, and inside it we hung pictures of her “village,” including images of family and friends. The crib, changing table and glider are the same pieces of furniture we used for the boys. The highlight of the room, and my favorite accessory, is the chandelier. I wanted the room to be feminine, but not too girlie, so we hung a drum shade pendant with capiz shells. Also, for a feminine touch, we hung the picture frames on ornate drawer handles purchased at Lowes. To add shelf space in her closet, we added a stackable cube organizer.
