Toots or get off the pot


I must start off by saying that my husband brings a whole new language into our home. During my first visit to Trinidad in 2002, I learned about the book, Cote Ci Cote La, which “is an entertaining and educational illustrated dictionary that is the key to understanding the spoken dialect of Trinidad and Tobago.” My favorite words and phrases in the book are gyurl (which is pronounced “ghial”) and cuttin style. Granny Gee’s 89th Birthday


In June we visited Kansas City, MO with my parents in order to celebrate Granny Gee’s 89th birthday. It was the Lion’s first time meeting his only living great-grandparent. What a blessing.

Vacation Bible School


Tonight Gadget and I attended Vacation Bible School. Now, it has been YEARS since I attended VBS. It definitely had to have been in the 80s. This was a special event for me, to see my son in front of a church body presenting. As a young girl, I gained confidence from the many activities the black church promotes.
